This post is dedicated to listing the SWIFT codes of all the banks of Nepal. SWIFT is one of the popular methods for transferring funds worldwide and this method is usable in Nepal as well. Banks in Nepal have their own unique SWIFT code or BIC (Bank Identified Code). This code and your bank account number is required to transfer funds. In Nepal, we are not issued a separate IBAN (International Bank Account Number) but our normal bank account number works perfectly. In addition to this, you are also required some other basic details like bank address, zip code etc.

Using SWIFT, your funds will transfer quickly to your bank account. International remittances have been made simple and cheap because the charges are low while exchange rates are great. This service is specially useful if you are a freelancer or if you have accumulated funds online. For example: withdrawing money from skrill/moneybookers or withdrawing funds that you earn in freelancing site like Elance, oDesk and Freelancer.com.

• The list is compiled from the information available at swift.com official site. BIC search light tool on that site was used.
• Zip code is usually 44600. Banks have supplied different zip codes which wouldn’t be accepted. Find out the zip codes of different parts of Nepal from General Post Office’s website. The zip code that you are supposed to use should be of the place where the bank is located and not your area’s zip code.
• Usually only the bank name and SWIFT code is required. If address is required use the ones from above and not that of your bank’s branch. Only one branch which is usually the head office handles SWIFT messages/transactions.
• While doing SWIFT transactions double check the SWIFT code an your account number. If you get one of these wrong, your transaction will not go as desired.
